About the song: "Blue to Black"

A while back in my history, I lived in downtown Toronto and walked by a huge book store every morning on my way to school or, later, work.  Invariably there were always a couple people sitting against the outside wall asking for money.  They usually seemed happy.  They weren't old, or sick...one of them even had a dog that seemed only all to happy to be there working with them.  It was interesting to think about the differences between us and what we each had to deal with throughout our day. The dog owner was there in front of the store consistently and, over time, we got to saying "good morning" to each other as I passed by.  I don't recall giving him money more than a couple times, but I was tempted every day.  I never asked him, but wondered what his life was like, what he did with his money and what his backstory was.  Blue to Black is what I imagined his life was and what was he was hoping to become. It's not a secret that many people on the stree...

About the song: "Yesterdays"

A mid-aged couple relaxes in a well appointed living room, just settling in to do some reading or watching TV at the end of a day.    Some soft music plays from a speaker in the corner, while the house cat strolls in from somewhere and stretches himself out on the couch and waits patiently for some attention. After a short while of silence, the guy -- we'll call him J -- looks up from his paper and notices that his wife, K, is looking at him.  She looks good, still wearing the black dress she wore to work that day.  Her hair still done up perfectly, like her busy day never even happened. "What's up?  Your wine need a refill?", he says to her coyly while turning the page.  She proceeds to put the glass onto the table and looks at him, perched seriously on the edge of the chair.  "We need to talk."   J looks up from the paper, wilting quickly in his hands.  "About...?" K folds her hands on her lap, looks down and takes a breath.  ...

Hi World, It's me...

I've been making my own music for a long time.  There have been times of doubt, boredom, waining interest, and lack of time.  But the love of building things has been with me since my dawn and it always seemed that the need to grab a guitar and play always came back. I started playing in high school, getting together with a couple of other interesting cartoon characters and it has been a constant now-vacation for me;  my left-brained life needs the right-brained help that music and art afford me. Playing guitar has also been the gateway to learn some of the other pieces that are integral to music:  equipment, recording, mixing and production.  Although often not successful, it's always been rewarding to listen to something that too many hours and too little actual physical activity can produce.   It was through much learning, failure, and limited success that this first bunch of songs has finally come to life.    No music should stay locked u...
